Hi there, and welcome!

I'm Martin Beechen.

This blog is where I’ll be sharing thoughts and lessons on real estate, money, building wealth, and maybe even a bit on health. My goal is to keep things real, simple, and useful—whether you're just getting started or already deep into the game.

Before we get into all that, let me introduce myself.

A Bit About Me

I spent the early part of my adult life in the Marine Corps, working on long-range communication systems and serving a tour in Iraq. After that, I earned a degree in computer science and jumped into the world of tech.

I’ve been coding since high school and spent over 20 years building software, including 8 different startup attempts. One of those was DoorDash, where I was an early employee and stuck around through the IPO before deciding to leave tech. Before that, I also spent 7.5 years at Microsoft helping build OneDrive.

Along the way, I’ve been investing in the stock market since the '90s and have been buying and selling real estate for more than a decade. In the last few years, I’ve gotten serious about rental properties and now own 18 units, mostly multi-family rentals—with one Airbnb in the mix. At this point I consider myself a professional investor.

I'm happily married. No kids. 3 Bassets Hounds. We split our time and investments between Spokane, WA and Scottsdale, AZ.

Why I’m Writing This Blog

I’m doing this for two reasons: to help others, and to help myself.

Writing helps me think clearly and stay sharp. Sharing what I know helps others avoid mistakes I’ve made and hopefully move a little faster on their own path.

So that’s the plan—short, clear posts that cover real-world lessons from real-life experience.
